Intro Part 1

Hmmm... Euk and to anyone else following the book that is swims life (for the past 4 years anyhow) Well after loosing Doc 1 Swim now has Doc 1a. Swim pulled into the lot yesterday and was happy to see Florida plates throughout!! This is a good sign and considering this Doc is down on the pill strip area swim was pleasently surprised. Now pill strip is one block down and runs opposite of where Doc 1a is located.

For those whom dont know pill mill strip is like broadway in Nashville, 6th st in Austin Tx, Beale in Memphis except instead of Clubs and Music venue's it is Pain Docs!

I go in and there are quite a few waiting to get in unlike Doc 1, 2, and 3 where Swim is norm one of maybe 5 waiting this place had 30 or so a lot to swim but a far cry from the 100's in waiting area's and the 100's outside in line waiting to get in on the strip. So Swim was rather comfortable being there. It still had this eirie feeling of like when you were young and you were at a party or somewhere you shouldnt be.......like instead of the school function you slipped down to the local arcade and the entire time you had a feeling of "i'm not suppose to be here" Anyhow when setting appointment first question swim asked was "do you take insurance" they did so that was a good sign as most mills are cash only...cash visit, cash mri, and cash rx...this place has on site pharm but all is covered by insurance. swim's appnt was for 12 noon and swim got in about 1250....a little longe wait then norm but overall not bad. Dr comes in and he is surprisingly awesome!! Of course swim had to act like he was hearing everything for the first time again but some of what doc said swim was really hearing for the first time! Swim knew his insurance wouldnt cover Opana, Vic, MS Contin 30's yet and Swim had doc 2 today so didnt want HM as he would get that today. So swim says the HM he has been on and MS isnt working as well as it use too...the doc colorfully explains tolerence to swim and comares it to walking into a bakery and smelling the fresh goods for first time and how awesome they smell, but if you hang at the bakery everyday soon you wont smell it when walking in at all....kinda a cool annalogy. (yes swim knows my spelling sucks side statement to jersey or euk how about a spell check on this thing lol??) anyhow doc explains he wants to change meds and put swim on Oxycodone and Opana.!!! yes most would be COOL!! but swim filled Opana the 25th of May and OC too!! from doc 1 soo swim thinking quick and not to sound like he knows...starts asking about the laxative rx and ask if its name brand cause swim says his insurance sucks for brand name meds....the doc assures him its not then just as swim hopes he looks at notes and says...so your insurance isnt good with brand name?? Swim says no its is pretty high!! so doc says well I will change this opana to MS 60 since your 30s not working well...so swim is hoping the OC is a diff strength too....well doc wants to put a "novacain" type shot on swims nerve over L5 and L4 and see if it helps swim for 4 to 6 hrs and if soo then they will know it helped and can burn the nerve so that swim may get constant relief ( side note does anyone know anything about that procedure??? how does in work? is it relatively safe?? etc etc) so swim says ok he wants to research that and it sounds good gets rxs and goes to check out. now the pharm wants to fill rx but swim isnt sure insurance will cover the 60mg ms and knows it wont on the OC (oxicodone) so swim says wow pharm on site is very convienent but has to get going as the appt took longer then thought but will for sure use the pharm next visit. swim calls insurance and was correct that they would cover the MS but not the OC so swim is happy he didnt try to fill there as they would have known that swim had been RX's the OC recent and Swim stated he hadnt seen a doc since moving!! and was only on HM 8mg (dialudid) ms 30mg and Valuim....so swim goes to his fav mom pop gets ms filled and finds he can fill oc Friday!! this doc gave swim 60 ms contin 60mg and 120 15mg OC's!! now next visit swim will proclaim the MS contin not working well and he called his insurance and Opana isnt that expensive as to then get rx for Opana again as swim really liked it! So swim lucked out and replaced Doc 1 with 1a whom is writing swim basically what doc 1 did except instead of 60 OC that swim finally got raised to 90 he is at 120 from begining!! so swim wants to try to get rid of Doc 2 or 3....doc 2 is the 120 HM 8mg but he takes cash only at 120.00 a visit 7th visit free with clean piss...doc 3 is 60 lortab 10/500 and 90 ms contin 30mg but takes insurance and doesnt piss test swim would like to ditch cash doc keep doc 1a and 3 but needs doc 3 to step up to the plate and quit writing the useless lortab......

So this is where swim is in his quest to have 1 good doc before the October RX monitoring deadline since moving to FLorida and loosing his one awesome doc in st louis..Swim needs to narrow it down to 1 doc and get the right amount of RX to do swim right for 30 days!! it really really really shouldnt be this hard for a legit CP patient to get the meds one needs to function normally on a day to day basis!! it is insane, morraly wrong, and borderline infringment on ones rights to Life liberty and the persuit of happiness as far as swim feels.

Swim ran out of his meds this weekend for first time in a very very long time....swim thought he could make it through sunday without and be ok to see doc 1a on Mon morn......swim got a taste of what life is like both in PAIN and In WD.......swim made it untill 4 pm sunday with last dose being noon on sat......swim finally went to the ER on sunday spent 5 hrs at hospital swims blood pressure was at 161 over 130 and heart rate at 127...they put swim on EKG swim appologized for wasting er time and was honest upfront stating he just moved here he did have some unhonesty saying he hadnt found a doc here and had ran out of his meds...the doc was very nice stated they norm dont write for that type meds but felt for swim and since swim wasnt in the system he belived swim they gave swim 8mg HM and 30mg ms contin all at once 20 min later swim felt normall and pain free again!! they RX swim 30 HM and 12 MS swim was gratefull even after getting initial dose and filling scripts swim didnt feel completely normal untill about 3 hrs later...swim NEVER wants to feel that way again!!

This is swim's life swim wishes he didnt have CP but he does. SWIm wants all rec users to know....Dont get yourself in that situation and since it is rec use dont let yourself build up to that lever since if you dont have legit reasons for the meds you wont be able to go to a doc and get a rx very easy...and however you currnetly get it....it will not last forever things happen and sometime sooner or later you will feel the wrath of WD it isnt nice...it isnt pretty....swim thought he could tough it out till 11am on monday but found he couldnt take it past 4pm sunday....so if you are a rec user dont put yourself in that position...take breaks from the opie's and be careful....trust me...it is NOT FUN!!!

Great post, mrbig-- glad to read things worked out well for the most part. Especially the last 2 paragraphs about WD-ing...
Your warnings are very accurate-- not only for the "rec user" but I think it applies to us CP patients as well. Many times we
have "lost docs" for one reason or another and even though we had records/MRIs/Xrays that easily show our problems even
to a first-year med student- wind up doing CT and shaking and shivering. Heck, I feel it starting in the early AM hours before
the morning dose-- sometimes even get restless legs syndrome (RLS) and the other stuff is beginning. My CP is based mostly
in my left leg- so I never feel that good there anyway--

I guess one thing to remember is try to keep a bit of a "backlog-supply" if at all possible, for those times when you lose your
doc through no fault of your own...something to bridge the gap until the next Provider--thanks again, mrbig!

Hey Euk,

I will respond to your PM later in the day. This will prob be short and sweet as I have only been up a few hrs and still hurting pretty bad . Did you...silly question....how did you like game 7? it soooo Rocked didnt it? Kobe is so good!! The media say he didnt do enough but of course he is not Mike Jordan so he cant do enough, but I mean the guy still had over 20 points..23 I think go figure (jordan numb) and then goes nuts with 15 boards!!!....How bout Artest interview after the game lol ROFL!!! have you seen it? they have it on some sports boards he goes carzy thanks his doctor and psychologist lol the world wide warriors pumps his cd single that is a year old....this was a follow up to the famouse "queensbridge" interview from the suns series...truly priceless.

Well Doc 1a turned out to be a sigh of relief actually!! Do you know much about a treatment in which they shoot novicain like drug onto a cpl nerves in back it is suppose to alleiviate pain down the leg. It should work for 4 to 6 hrs. If in fact it numbs the pain down the leg and I can function normal after the shot...well after 6 hrs you go back to living in pain. But what it does is says ok these nerves are problematic so then they go in and BURN the nerves they put the novicain on and poof you are "fixed" I have the name of the treetment around here somewhere and will PM it to you when I reply later, but wanted to put it out on reg board as well in hope that I could get more knowledge back from others as well.

Of course there have been more developments in the pain clinic and county moretoriums here as well that i will post in appropraite places later as well!!! I love this board so dont get me wrong but with this pain clinic stuff here and such I soooooo wish I could get in as a member on the phile so I could talk to masses about what is going on etc and maybe come up with ideas to counter the movement by feds, county and med officials ya know? I check the board all the time in hopes of open reg but in 2 years I have NEVER seen Reg open
